TPL Storytime and Events 2013

Each week we offer several storytimes to meet different age groups. We also have several other events such as Pajama-Rama Story and craft, the last Friday of the month, and a Family/All Ages Storytime second weekend of the month. Plus we have several special family events throughout the year. We are also having our Summer Reading Program, Imagine That!, June-August, which will have several events connected to it for school age children. We are also offering Early Literacy Classes six times this year in connection with Parent's Place Learning Center.

Baby & Me Rhyme Time (Ages 0-12 Months) Tuesdays & Fridays 10:30-11:15 am

A storytime designed for you and your baby. This storytime focuses on providing you and your child with early literacy skills by reading simple stories, singing songs, engaging in play with different developmental objects, and sharing some fun songs and chants that you can do at home with your little one. 

Toddlers (Ages 12 Months-3 years) Thursdays 10:15-11:00 am

This is a fun and active storytime for your toddler! Designed to meet the six early literacy skills as outlined in the Every Child Ready to Read Program (Vocabulary, Narrative Skills, Print Motivation, Print Awareness, Letter Knowledge, Phonological Awareness), we read age appropriate stories, use fun props, dance, and sing. Your child will build their love of books and reading with these fun iterative storytimes! Visit each week for a different theme! 

Preschoolers (Ages 3-5 years) Thursdays 11:15-12:00 am
This is a fun and active storytime for your Preschooler! Designed to meet the six early literacy skills as outlined in the Every Child Ready to Read Program (Vocabulary, Narrative Skills, Print Motivation, Print Awareness, Letter Knowledge, Phonological Awareness Specially designed for young readers), we will read age appropriate stories, use fun props, dance, and sing.  Your child will bolster their love of books and reading with these fun interactive storytimes! Visit each week for a different theme! 

Pajama-Rama! (All Ages 0-10) Every last Friday of the Month at 6:30 pm

Join us in celebrating reading right before bed! But this isn't a calming relaxing storytime! We will be reading fun stories, singing songs, dancing, and making crafts! This is a very fun event for all ages to come and attend. Due to popularity of this event, we ask that you please sign up ahead of time and tell us the ages, of your children. 

Weekend Family/All Ages Storytimes (All Ages 0-10) Every Second Sunday of the Month at 2:00 pm.

Join us in a fun interactive storytime! We read fun books that are connected to our monthly theme, as well as sing songs, dance, and make crafts! Special Performers may be dropping by from time to time to add their talents to the program. These storytimes are a fun event for all ages. These are popular events, so please sign up and let us know how many children you will be bringing and the ages. 

Early Literacy Classes (all parents and expecting parents, children welcome) Dates TBA

We are very excited to be offering these classes at TPL for the first time. Early Literacy is very important to us here, so we are happy to be working with Parent's Place Learning Center to provide a class to parents and expectant parents regarding the importance of early literacy and how they can promote reading and language development in their children from as early as their first year of life. This class will be offered January, March, May, September, and November. Check monthly schedule for specific dates and time. (Parent's Place is Providing half the funding for these classes).

Imagine That! Summer Reading Program (All Ages) June-August 2013

We are very excited to be having Imagine That! theme for our Summer Reading Program. Research has shown how detrimental summer education loss can be to children, by continueing to read throughout the summer, children can fight educaiton loss. Not to mention we expect the theme of this year to be especially exciting!  This theme will be focused around fantasy elements including, adventures, fairy tales, fables, and more! The imagination is the limit this summer at TPL! We will be having our Summer Kick-Off party in June, and the End of Summer Reading party in August as usual. Weekly prizes will be handed out when a child turns in their reading log each week, and at the end of the summer they can come and claim a free book!
